RM58 CLASSIC chair by Vzor

The RM58 is a modern version of the revolutionary armchair designed by Roman Modzelewski. Handmade in 1958, it was one of the first Polish examples of furniture in polyester glass laminate, but its innovative capacity lies not only in the materials used in its production. The organic shape of the fully enclosed seat had no counterpart at the time, either in Poland or elsewhere. One of the first surviving prototypes (in white) was purchased for the permanent design collection of the Victoria and Albert Museum in London. The use of new materials and industrial technologies in the production of the RM58 armchair of VZOR has made it possible to overcome the constraints of artisanal production and offer a consistently high quality product that can be produced quickly and relatively cheaply, in large batches. It also allowed an opaque version of the armchair (see RM58 MATTE), offering a new aesthetic appeal in a variety of new and modern colors specially chosen in consultation with the patent holder, the widow of Roman Modzelewski, Wera Modzelewska.
