Come Illuminare casa con la regola degli "strati"

How to Light Your Home with the "Layers" Rule

Until a few years ago, the only options were cheap purchases that lacked aesthetics, or design classics with a significantly high price tag. Fortunately, things have changed in recent years, and many brands have emerged that satisfy the customer's desire for good design at an affordable price. All of this means that now anyone has the opportunity to have pieces of excellent design, whatever their budget .

Light up the living room

In all our projects and consultancy we almost always recommend lighting by alternating and mixing linear and "technical" elements with more decorative and visually striking design pieces.

A scheme we usually suggest is to proceed with a "layered" lighting:
- Spotlights for homogeneous and diffused lighting , LED strips in false ceilings or hidden light grooves. They are used to obtain natural light, without visually perceiving the presence of the lighting body.
- One or more pendant lamps that hang over the table, generally the aim is to choose a piece with a visual and decorative impact.
- Lower intensity lights , wall sconces or floor lamps that create a soft and welcoming atmosphere. On a decorative level, even a table lamp placed on the TV wall or on a sideboard is a detail that captures attention.

How to light the dining table

Choosing the right lamp for the dining area means being able to transform a simple light into a piece of art that will give a very important touch to the design of the entire room.
The shape, materials and finishes are very important and must be chosen with care. You can choose from crystal chandeliers that embellish the environment, to modern chandeliers with opal glass spheres such as in this project of ours, the lighting will be homogeneous and effective.

A good pendant lamp must be appropriately proportioned to the table , but the latest trends indicate a preference for large, even giant lamps!
Don't forget the importance of the distance of the lamp from the top of the table, which should be between 70 and 90cm approximately.
Ps. check if the lamps are also dimmable, if you have the predisposition you will be able to adjust the light intensity.

Cluster lights with 3.5 or more pendants are super trendy. The result will be scenic, and the set of lights will occupy the space above the table well.

For a contemporary home we recommend chandeliers in metals such as bronze, brass, gold, copper, perhaps with minimal shapes and LEDs. You can also play with pendants in glass of different colors , such as our BEBA suspensions. For a contemporary home we recommend chandeliers in metals such as bronze, brass, gold, copper, perhaps with minimal shapes and LEDs. Light up the bedroom

Lighting the bedroom for many is reduced to choosing a chandelier in the center of the room, but to light a room with style, as explained above, it is good to proceed with different "layers" of lighting . You start with a homogeneous light that generally illuminates the room like a ceiling light in the center of the room, then you can have wall lamps that create a softer light and finally you can create a touch of style on the side of the bedside tables, with pendants or wall lamps that create directional beams of light.

We always recommend mixing and dosing the lighting fixtures well between technical style models (spotlights/led) and decorative models. For example, if we choose to place a chandelier with spheres in the center of the room, on the bedside tables we suggest opting for minimal pendants or spotlights.

To illuminate the sides of the bed, the alternative to pendants are table lamps and bedside lamps to be placed on the bedside tables, paying attention to the design so as to catch the eye at first glance.

Light up the bathroom

As with all rooms in the house, even when it comes to bathroom lighting it is good practice to follow the "layer rule":
- choose an ambient light such as a ceiling light or spotlights to create diffused and uniform lighting.
- Illuminate the mirror area with a natural colored light above the mirror or appliques on the sides. Backlit mirrors are also very scenic. We also often recommend designer pendants on one side of the mirror to illuminate with personality.
- To conclude the lighting project, it is good practice to study light grooves and LED strips hidden in the false ceilings to create relaxing and effective atmospheres.
