How to Decorate a Library with Books and Decorative Objects

A well-decorated bookcase or shelf can become the focal point of a room, showcasing your passion for reading and your personal style. Arranging books and decorative objects in an aesthetically pleasing way can transform the space into an elegant showcase. In this article, we will explore some tips and ideas on how to properly furnish a bookcase with a mix of books and decorative objects to create an inviting and visually appealing arrangement. 1. Start with a Clean Canvas Before you begin decorating, remove all items from your bookcase or shelves. This will give you a clean canvas to work with and make it easier to visualize your arrangement. credit pinterest lomance.com 2. Organize Books by Theme or Color Group your books by theme or color to create a cohesive and organized look. If you have books with covers that are too different in color from the others, you can use a little trick and lean them with the cover facing the wall so that you can see the color of the pages instead of the colored cover. 3. Mix Vertical and Horizontal Stacks Placing books in both vertical and horizontal stacks adds visual interest and aesthetic variation. Blogger Michelle Nielsens home-in-Aarhus-Denmark 4. Incorporate Decorative Objects Incorporate decorative objects such as vases , sculptures, frames or small plants among the books. These objects add personality and dimension to the bookcase. Choose two or three objects of the same material, color or type and arrange them in a staggered manner on the different levels of the bookcase. credit pinterest houzz.fr 5. Use Bookends Bookends not only keep books upright, they also add style and structure to the arrangement. Choose bookends that match the overall theme of the bookshelf. 6. Add a Personal Touch Include personal items that reflect your interests and passions. Family photos, travel souvenirs, or treasured items can make your bookshelf feel more personalized and inviting. 7. Use Empty Spaces Avoid overloading the bookcase. Leave empty spaces between objects to allow the eyes to rest and appreciate the arrangement. 8. Consider Lighting If your bookcase has shelves with enough space, add small LED lights or battery-operated decorative lights to illuminate the arrangement and create a cozy atmosphere. 9. Incorporate Art Hang pictures and prints on the back of the bookcase or lean it against the back panel to add a decorative backdrop and enhance the visual impact. credit instagram @renov8teen With these tips, you can transform your bookcase or shelves into a stunning display space for your literary treasures and decorative objects. 5 consigli per arredare il tuo balcone o terrazzino

5 tips for decorating your balcony or terrace

When we talk about furnishing a small balcony, a terrace or a modest garden, functional design and space-saving solutions are essential to create a space that is welcoming and comfortable. In recent years we all know how precious it is to have an outdoor space , regardless of its shape and size, so investing in the way you want to use and organize it is definitely time well spent. Small balconies can often be a challenge to design, and when space is limited they can be even more complicated. Luckily, there are many clever ways to transform even the smallest of balconies into a functional, beautiful and welcoming space. Making the most of the available space means being able to create comfort and visual appeal. The balcony should be an extension of the interior space where the interior design and furnishing choices continue into the outdoor area. 1. Create a compact yet welcoming dining space Adding a table to a tiny balcony may seem counterintuitive, as they take up a lot of space, but if you choose wisely, you will soon be won over. It all comes down to clever design, and with careful placement, it can become a display element, a workspace, or an outdoor dining area. Look for tables with a small footprint and the ability to fold down the side or front doors. 2. Space-saving modular seating No balcony or garden should be without seating, especially if you want to up the coziness factor. If space allows, a weatherproof sofa with waterproof cushions is the perfect choice for relaxing outdoors with a good book, drinking coffee with friends, or simply admiring the view. The modular design is a great idea for a balcony, as it can be easily reconfigured if the layout of the balcony changes. 3. Add a rug Adding an outdoor rug to an outdoor space is a quick and easy way to make it feel like an extension of your home, but it can also elevate the space with color and pattern. Be sure to use a weather-resistant design made from fabric specifically designed for outdoor areas. That way, if it gets dirty, you can simply wipe it down with a gentle cleaning solution without much fuss. Using outdoor rugs can be a great alternative if you want to hide a less than beautiful floor, without having to face the expense of covering it permanently. 4. Use the walls of the balcony as extra space for plants One of the best ways to make a balcony cozy is with plants. Even just a few small potted plants can warm up the space and make it look relaxed and lived-in. However, when space is limited, too many potted plants can reduce the floor area too much. Why not free up space by using the height and walls of the balcony to display plants? Such as plant racks, hanging planters and balcony planters above the railing. These solutions not only raise the plants and make the balcony more beautiful to look at, but can also make it easier to care for the plants, without having to constantly bend down. 5. Include a mix of cozy mood lighting Whether it's a string of solar lights, a floor lamp, or a table lamp, introducing some atmospheric outdoor lighting to your balcony will instantly transform it. Try to highlight the most beautiful elements, such as intricate ironwork, brickwork, and let the less beautiful areas fade into darkness. Double the effect by introducing mirrors and reflective accessories.

Come Illuminare casa con la regola degli "strati"

How to Light Your Home with the "Layers" Rule

Until a few years ago, the only options were cheap purchases that lacked aesthetics, or design classics with a significantly high price tag. Fortunately, things have changed in recent years, and many brands have emerged that satisfy the customer's desire for good design at an affordable price. All of this means that now anyone has the opportunity to have pieces of excellent design, whatever their budget . Light up the living room In all our projects and consultancy we almost always recommend lighting by alternating and mixing linear and "technical" elements with more decorative and visually striking design pieces. picture credit and project by @design_studio_element A scheme we usually suggest is to proceed with a "layered" lighting: - Spotlights for homogeneous and diffused lighting , LED strips in false ceilings or hidden light grooves. They are used to obtain natural light, without visually perceiving the presence of the lighting body. - One or more pendant lamps that hang over the table, generally the aim is to choose a piece with a visual and decorative impact. - Lower intensity lights , wall sconces or floor lamps that create a soft and welcoming atmosphere. On a decorative level, even a table lamp placed on the TV wall or on a sideboard is a detail that captures attention. In the photo: FARETTI BOT ,ZAC FLOOR floor lamp, PEARL 5 BRASS ceiling light, RIDA LED ceiling light In the photo: JUGEN , MIKADO and PARS wall lamps How to light the dining table Choosing the right lamp for the dining area means being able to transform a simple light into a piece of art that will give a very important touch to the design of the entire room. The shape, materials and finishes are very important and must be chosen with care. You can choose from crystal chandeliers that embellish the environment, to modern chandeliers with opal glass spheres such as in this project of ours, the lighting will be homogeneous and effective. In the photo pendant lamps DIONE BLACK 6 , JUGEN 4 LIGHTS and NOSTALGIA 2L A good pendant lamp must be appropriately proportioned to the table , but the latest trends indicate a preference for large, even giant lamps! Don't forget the importance of the distance of the lamp from the top of the table, which should be between 70 and 90cm approximately. Ps. check if the lamps are also dimmable, if you have the predisposition you will be able to adjust the light intensity. In the photo the pendant lamps NOSTALGIA 3L , Led ROW , Led LINE ORO and COMETA Cluster lights with 3.5 or more pendants are super trendy. The result will be scenic, and the set of lights will occupy the space above the table well. In the photo SAMOI , ALADINO and CAOS suspensions For a contemporary home we recommend chandeliers in metals such as bronze, brass, gold, copper, perhaps with minimal shapes and LEDs. You can also play with pendants in glass of different colors , such as our BEBA suspensions. For a contemporary home we recommend chandeliers in metals such as bronze, brass, gold, copper, perhaps with minimal shapes and LEDs. You can also play with pendants in glass of different colors , such as our BEBA suspensions. Light up the bedroom Lighting the bedroom for many is reduced to choosing a chandelier in the center of the room, but to light a room with style, as explained above, it is good to proceed with different "layers" of lighting . You start with a homogeneous light that generally illuminates the room like a ceiling light in the center of the room, then you can have wall lamps that create a softer light and finally you can create a touch of style on the side of the bedside tables, with pendants or wall lamps that create directional beams of light. ENIGMA SUSPENSION In the photo MAE suspension, ARROW suspension, MOLLIS wall lamp We always recommend mixing and dosing the lighting fixtures well between technical style models (spotlights/led) and decorative models. For example, if we choose to place a chandelier with spheres in the center of the room, on the bedside tables we suggest opting for minimal pendants or spotlights. In the photo wall lamps HYSSNA , BOT and IOS spotlights In hanging photos SAMOI , RUBEN , CASCADE , X-RAY , MOLLIS To illuminate the sides of the bed, the alternative to pendants are table lamps and bedside lamps to be placed on the bedside tables, paying attention to the design so as to catch the eye at first glance. Light up the bathroom As with all rooms in the house, even when it comes to bathroom lighting it is good practice to follow the "layer rule": - choose an ambient light such as a ceiling light or spotlights to create diffused and uniform lighting. - Illuminate the mirror area with a natural colored light above the mirror or appliques on the sides. Backlit mirrors are also very scenic. We also often recommend designer pendants on one side of the mirror to illuminate with personality. - To conclude the lighting project, it is good practice to study light grooves and LED strips hidden in the false ceilings to create relaxing and effective atmospheres. L'interior design per il tuo ristorante, come renderlo instagrammabile.

Interior design for your restaurant, how to make it instagrammable.

"7 seconds, the time you have to win over your guests" When we talk about a restaurant, especially in our country, good food, great service and a pleasant location can certainly take you far. But it is the relationships you build with your customers that make your business last for decades. Creating this kind of connection starts long before your customers sit down to eat. It only takes 7 seconds to make a good first impression, and in this business it’s not the food or the fine wine that the customer first comes into contact with. Before your customers can taste your famous dishes or your cocktails, they focus on what they see around them: the atmosphere, expressed by the interior design of your restaurant. Dreamy interiors can speak for you, creating a healthy expectation and amplifying the final result. A good first impression has an immediate impact on your business. Within seconds of entering your establishment, customers will start sharing their experience on social media. Here are some tips on how to create this positive vicious circle. Let's start with what works! The days of food porn are already history. Perhaps following the latest studies that highlight how photographing food actually makes it less appetizing, the most avant-garde restaurateurs are focusing not only on the quality of the food but also on the "visual" experience they offer their guests. But before demolishing everything, try to understand which parts and elements of your current location capture the attention of your customers. A particular decoration? A piece of furniture? The colors? And then, have you noticed if your customers take more photos of the outside of your place rather than inside or vice versa? All this information will be essential in the relationship with your interior designer, to establish the direction in which to evolve and what instead should remain authentic. Don't cling to traditions If you are in love with your current location there may be a temptation to not change anything, as the famous saying goes, “A winning team never changes.” Be careful though, because a targeted intervention will end up increasing your turnover by 10% for the next 6 years on average, and can give you dozens of opportunities for social interactions with your customers throughout the renewal process, making them participate. Not everything has to change as we said, there will certainly be something to keep and that contains the soul of your place, especially if it is a family business. The important thing is to make it known to your interior designer and establish together the best path. Your restaurant should always reflect you while keeping up with the times. Experts recommend a restyling every 5 or 7 years , and while this is not a rule but a warm recommendation, you would be surprised to see how much benefit an interior design intervention can bring to your business. Share your results and go viral Refreshing your venue's image isn't just about architecture. You and your clients can take great shots, but if you don't know how to direct them online, with the right strategy and the right hashtags, your online audience might be smaller than you expect. Finding the right hashtag is a bit like an interior design intervention, you have to keep up with the trends of the moment without following them in an impersonal way. You must always leave room for originality in your posts to engage your audience. Starting from the basics, posting with a hashtag increases your post engagement by 12% . With the right photos, your interior renovation can also generate new customers thanks to word of mouth. Photographing the best corners of your restaurant in HQ and with natural light will help you stand out from the crowd. And don't forget the people, like you, your family or your staff. And if your customers photograph themselves inside your restaurant, engagement increases up to +35%. Stay authentic Always remember to stay authentic, interior design will help you evolve but it can never replace your and your family's passion that for generations has carried on an activity that gives moments of joy to so many people. Online interior design, the story of Restylit.com founders.

Online interior design, the story of Restylit.com founders.

Your best idea will come from the most unexpected situation. Get lost from time to time. Tea and Alberto are two inseparable visionaries in their early 30s who merged their field of knowledge, e-commerce and interior design to build the first online Italian interior design firm serving the world, despite the worldwide industry trend of professional networks. Since their first meeting on a domestic Italian flight 3 years ago they started thinking about how people manage their interior renovation projects, small or big, which is basically through online shops, physical stores/showrooms or professional interior designers or companies. It looked like a highly fragmented market with several specific customer behaviors for any given country. They founded Restylit at the end of 2018 as a back-to-the-roots strong alternatives to furniture e-commerce giants and professional networks. An authentic interior design firm with its own interior designers and its own classy style recognized all over the world, they soon realized they were building a high qualitative brand with a strong signature, Innovative enough to compete, but more authentic and affordable. With Restylit you can get your interiors signed by an Italian interior design firm on a budget, you can shop online with free support and tips from a talented interiors team and you can boost your hospitality business through their internal services. Where did the idea for Restylit come from? When Alberto and I met on a plane back in 2016, we soon became interested in each other's jobs and started talking about e-commerce and interior design. He was reading a nice interiors magazine where an interior design firm was showing their latest incredible private home renovation. The final cost was clearly written and I thought, “Okay, I won't do it, it's too much” and he answered: “You really don't understand the power of living in a nice, comfortable place? The cost doesn't matter – you just have to do it. ”I waited, smiled, and said: “I bet I can do the same with a fifth of that sum by buying furniture online…” And that's how the Restylit idea was born: a place where we all can get top design help on our DIY project while buying furniture online. What does your typical day look like and how do you make it productive? A typical day at Restylit HQ is like a rollercoaster. It starts with an early morning briefing around 8 am, with 30 minutes spent focusing on our main tasks. We start with help requests from all over the world. These are people asking for help with buying from our furniture shop. Then it's time for the team to focus on what we love: interior design projects! They are revised by Tea as head of projects. We use the last part of our day to plan and schedule the next one, while also discussing new ideas and how to develop them. We started with very different daily habits and I still can't tell who was more productive at the beginning, but now we do know what works best for us: a strong daily organization and full commitment to success. How do you bring ideas to life? They like overnight or when we're not concentrating on daily tasks. If it's about our daily job then our team is like a volcano! Every day we come up with a new approach, a new style to spread or, if we are looking at the bigger picture from the founders' side we love to get lost, literally. We used to break up our daily routine with long nature walks to stop focusing on our jobs and start thinking about our bigger life goals. Did you read how we founded the company? This is exactly how we come up with new ideas! What's one trend that excites you? We're curious about Virtual/Augmented Reality as it might be game-changing. Technology has taken a big step forward in the past two years. It would be great to literally immerse customers inside their new spaces with the help of our team. It could be a powerful experience for any customer. What is one habit of yours that makes you more productive as an entrepreneur? Wake up early in the morning, wake up earlier than others with an organized agenda, and don't go to bed until you've checked off every point of the list. As Restylit founders we use to get up early than 6 am to respect our daily schedule and get things done. Getting things done means being productive. When you start a business the road will be full of challenges; you won't overcome all of them. What can save you and help you to achieve your goals is just getting things done day by day, hour by hour. These dots will connect you to the future. What advice would you give your younger self? Start to business! Any business you may have in mind, one of all your crazy ideas. You have a lot to learn. Surround yourself with inspiring people. You need the most positive vibes to overcome your life's challenges. Create a fertile environment around you, living in a place where positive energy and ideas are eager to be born. This is crucial, especially if you're living somewhere where it's tough to “do it big”. What's around you contributes to defining you so…pay attention! Tell us something that's true that almost nobody agrees with you on. The first thing coming to our mind is about our native country, Italy, where people don't believe in online interior design. Almost no one does. It's because we are a conservative country which always needs more time to embrace the change. Well it wasn't easy to start this business here! As an entrepreneur, what is the one thing you do over and over and recommend everyone else do? Never stop doing. It might seem an obvious assumption but it's not true. When you're launching a startup you often have full days (and nights) with an infinite to-do list which need a constant switch from task A to task B. It's easy to panic after seeing a massive to-do list, but you must do everything you planned for your day or you're not gonna win over the beast! What is one strategy that has helped you grow your business? When we entered the business we were almost bankrupt. We'd spent 80% of ours budget on website development and to establish the company. Daily connections with our (very small) IG audience seemed to be the best way to understand our business potential. It was homemade, handmade marketing approach which resulted in our very first customer: the owner of a beautiful Milan flat who needed help rethinking the interior design and furnishing her apartment without spending a fortune. Well, she was exactly our person! What is one failure you had as an entrepreneur, and how did you overcome it? At the very beginning of our journey we were asked by a fashion shop owner to design the spaces of his new store. He was one of those old-school Italian entrepreneurs who usually take advantage of others – but we badly wanted to start our business and doing it big. We designed the shop with beautiful furniture from an exclusive collection. It turned out he was asking to pay far less then our project value. Moreover, he didn't want us to publish our project on social media, because he was scared other shops in town would ask us to do the same for them…which it was exactly our goal!! What a beginner's mistake! What is one business idea that you're willing to give away to our readers? Think about social security. Think about how powerful could be if we all had the chance of contributing to a better world with real time feedback on potentially dangerous events and classifying streets and areas based on risky events…you can become a superhero! If there's someone interested out there we can work together on it! What is the best $100 you recently spent? What and why? We went to Chamonix some months ago to spend the weekend in the beautiful Alps. Our friend offered to rent his flat to us for less than $100, so we went for it. The view was amazing, the flat was quite good but not…amazing. We realized that many owners in the area were renting those kinds of accommodations for as much as $200 per night just because they have lots of tourists. How much could our friend have earned with a soft interior design intervention? Let's say a couple of pieces of furniture and a new wall colour…perhaps double. This is how we implemented our temporary rent dedicated services. What is one piece of software or a web service that helps you be productive? Tomato timer! We use it to stay focused on our daily tasks. Very useful! What is the one book that you recommend our community should read and why? You should read any book regarding motivation, self discipline, finance, business, startup…with a critical mind. Today we want to suggest you “Extreme Ownership” by Jocko Willink to teach yourself something about self discipline and hard work. What is your favorite quote? “Off the beaten track”, to find your identity to come up with your best ideas. Key Learnings: It's hard to start a business in a place where it's hard to find yours person. It means you need to educate or evolve your customer. It's hard but if you make it you'll be innovating the market. Your best idea will come from the most unexpected situation. Get lost from time to time. Hard work pays off, if you really believe in something you can make it real! Read the article or go back to the homepage .
